Pastor Bishop Joseph Futch's Journey: July

A Holy Convocation was already planned at St. Joseph Tabernacle, opening on Wednesday, the 17th and concluding on Saturday the 20 events for July!

The following week I had a chance to meet with Bishop for an update on his progress.  He has lost over 30 pounds since beginning his healthy lifestyle journey in June.  Amid his pastoring in two locations, attending numerous meetings, counseling church members, taking care of his family, he understands the importance of carving out time for his health.  He has put a support team in action – his wife is his daily fitness partner and his congregation is cheering him on!  The support helps you do things better – it is easier to stay focused and be accountable as you strive for your goals.  It takes a team to win and be successful in everything you do!

The Bishop is excited about his new-found and increasing energy.  “I love God, myself, my family, and my congregation.  My body is the temple of the Lord and I need to take care of myself.” He said, “I want to see us grow and mature together and do what God wants us to do.”

Bishop Futch and members from St. Joseph Tabernacle Church plan to be at the Tuesday, August 13 walk in Grand Ledge.  They are looking forward to meeting new friends in the community and working together to achieve healthier lifestyles.

Pastor Bishop Joseph Futch's Journey: June

Pastor Bishop Joseph Futch, First Lady Gwendolyn Futch, and members of the St. Joseph Tabernacle Church made a commitment to live healthier lifestyles.  They wanted to learn more about the tools needed to make healthy lifestyle choices a part of their daily lives.  They had heard about Choosing Health! and inquired about the possibility of hosting a health rally at their church. They made a decision to join this group’s initiative with the Healthy Lifestyle Committee of the Capital Area Health Alliance.  After several months of planning and preparation, their congregation welcomed participants to the 2nd annual Spring/Summer Choosing Health! Rally Saturday, June 8, 2013.
At the Rally, Bishop Futch began to walk the talk!  He participated in the Playmakers Good Form Walking Clinic – learning three important techniques:  improving posture, taking proper strides, and learning how to lean.  Learning these techniques helps you to walk lighter, easier, and healthier.  Bishop shared his goal to lose 100 pounds; he plans to attend the Walking In Our Community Series; and he invited us to share in his journey.
